Canyons Shuts Out West L.A. to Earn 10th Straight Win
COC goalkeeper Priscilla Duron earns her fifth shutout of season
CULVER CITY, Calif. — Two goals for the College of the Canyons women's soccer team were enough for the Cougars to secure a 2-0 win over West L.A. College on Friday afternoon.
The victory makes it four straight victories against conference foes, with Canyons scoring an incredible 20 goals in those games. The COC defense has been in top form too, allowing only two goals in October.
Marissa Kneisel netted her team-leading 10th goal in the 28th minute. Jennifer Mendez was credited with her fourth assist on the Kneisel goal as the Cougars led 1-0 at the half.
In the 58th minute, Jennifer Brown scored the second and final goal of the match. COC defender Brooklynn Stevens was credited with the assist on Brown's sixth goal of the season.
COC goalkeeper Priscilla Duron earned her fifth clean sheet on the season, upping her personal record to 6-1-2 on the season.
The victory boosts COC's record to 9-1-3 on the season. COC remains unbeaten in conference play with a 6-0-1 record. The Cougars have not lost a game since Sept. 4 and are currently enjoying a 10-game unbeaten streak.
College of the Canyons will look to continue its string of impressive performances as they host Citrus College at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, on the college's upper field.
