SANTA MONICA, Calif. — The College of the Canyons women's soccer team played to a 3-3 draw on the road against Santa Monica College on Tuesday afternoon, as the Cougars remained unbeaten in conference play.
Canyons (4-1-3, 2-0-1) appeared to have its four-game unbeaten streak in jeopardy, but would storm back with three unanswered goal to ensure a positive result.
Reigning Western State Conference (WSC) Player of the Year Marissa Kneisel scored two quick goals just before the halftime whistle sounded to cut the deficit to 3-2 and swing the momentum back in the Cougars' favor
Kneisel's first goal in the 39th minute came off an assist from freshman Hannah Hoskins. Her second score came unassisted. Kneisel's goals were her seventh and eighth goals of the season.
In the second half, COC freshman Kelly Marquez scored the game-tying goal in the 61st minute, on an assist from Kneisel.
COC's next game sends the Cougars on the road to take on L.A. Valley College at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9.
