The Cougars picked up a 1-0 victory over Santa Rosa Community College on day one of the annual Las Positas tournament.
The College of the Canyons women's soccer program remains unbeaten — and ranked among the nation's top teams — after a 1-0 victory over Santa Rosa Community College during Thursday's match at the annual Las Positas Tournament.
The Cougars (4-0) started the week ranked No. 16 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Association Junior College Division III poll, before topping No. 12 Santa Rosa (2-2).
Canyons, which has surrendered just one goal over its first four matches, previously recorded victories over Ventura College, Long Beach City College and Evergreen Valley College.
On Thursday, COC freshman Kylia Bradford put the Cougars on the board at the 84th minute mark with an unassisted goal that proved to be enough for the win.
Bradford is currently second on the team with two goals and five points.
COC sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Burrow (2-0-0) picked up the win after recording five saves and securing the clean sheet.
As a team, the Cougars registered a total eight shots in the game, with five shots on goal.
Canyons will next face No. 17 Las Positas at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8.
The Cougars also have upcoming matches scheduled with No. 3 Chaffey College (Friday, Sept. 15), No. 11 Santa Barbara City College (Tuesday, Sept. 26) and No. 18 L.A. Pierce College (Friday, Oct. 6), before beginning the conference portion of its schedule.
COC is the only undefeated team in the Western State Conference, East division.
