VALLEY GLEN — College of the Canyons traveled to face L.A. Valley College on Friday, downing the Monarchs 3-0 to advance their lead in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division.
The victory gives Canyons (6-3-1, 3-0-1) its third straight win vs. a conference opponent.
COC freshman Lizeth Gutierrez-Cervantes was the first to get the Cougars on the board with the help coming on an assist from Analise Rappe.
Rebekah Brooks followed with the second goal of the match, this time with an assist from Katie Russell.
Lauryn Bailey capped the goal scoring with the third and final goal of the match, also assisted by Katie Russell.
Canyons goalkeeper Zoe MacDonald kept the Monarchs at bay, earning the shutout and recording five saves in the match to record the win.
COC is back on the road at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12 vs. West L.A. College.
