No. 17 Cougars Close Regular Season 3-0 at Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA — No. 17 College of the Canyons closed out the regular season in winning fashion with a 3-0 road result at Santa Monica College.
COC sophomore Sabine Yalung was first to score for the Cougars, converting on her touch in the 38th minute. Lauryn Bailey was credited with an assist on the scoring play.
Bailey later earned a goal of her own, moving Canyons ahead 2-0 during first half stoppage time to put the Cougars firmly in control at the break. The score was Bailey's 15th of the year.
Canyons sophomore Rebekah Brooks scored her 18th goal of the season on an unassisted strike in the 62nd minute. That total ranks Brooks ninth in the state and first in the conference, despite missing five games due to injury.
COC goalkeeper Kylie Yuzon (8-3-3) earned the win after a pair of saves in the game.
Canyons (13-3-4, 10-1-3) entered the final weekend of the regular season second in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division standings. Earlier this week the Cougars played to a 2-2 draw with conference leader Antelope Valley College.
The Cougars are currently ranked No. 17 in the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) poll.
COC will now await the results of this weekend's scheduled matches and updated rankings to learn its seeding in the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs.
Head coach Justin Lundin and the Cougars will be playing in the postseason for an 11th straight season.
