Lady Cougars Score Second Conference Win 7-0 Over Glendale

College of the Canyons extended its scoring frenzy from its outing earlier in the week into its second Western State Conference (WSC), South Division match, this time beating host Glendale College 7-0 on Friday afternoon.
COC (5-3-1, 2-0) found the net in the 24th minute of the match and within four minutes had built a 3-0 advantage.
Canyons freshman Felecia Marquez kicked off the action and put her first goal away of the season, with the assist going to sophomore Laurel Durkin.
Ashley Striegel worked for the second goal one minute later, and Alyssa Edwards put away the third in the 28th minute with the assist credited to Lizeth Gutierrez.
Striegel found the back of the net once more in the 32nd minute, making that her sixth score of the season. She was assisted by sophomore Gisselle Gomez on the play.
Soon after, sophomore Jessie Bonsness got in on the action with her first goal fo the season and pushed the Cougars' lead to 5-0 at the half.
The scoring continued, but slowed, in the second half with the sixth goal coming from freshman Viviana Soler in the 52nd minute, her first of the season.
Freshman Kiana Madera capped the game off at 7-0 in the 80th minute with the assist coming from Sarah Allen.
The Cougars outshot Glendale 27-2, keeping Vaqueros' goalkeeper Ashley Messier on her toes throughout.
COC was backed by Annabella Gonzales (3-0-1) in net. Gonzales worked for two recorded saves in walking away with the win.
The Cougars are back on the road at West L.A. College for a 2 p.m. start time Tuesday Oct. 3. Canyons then heads home to host Bakersfield College at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6.
