Cougars Tabbed No. 10 Seed, Will Travel To No. 7 Cypress For Playoffs
Ranked as the No. 10 seed, the College of the Canyons volleyball team will be heading to No. 7 Cypress College for the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday, Nov. 26 for a 4 p.m. match.
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Ranked as the No. 10 seed, the College of the Canyons volleyball team will be heading to No. 7 Cypress College for the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday, Nov. 26 for a 4 p.m. match.
Cypress College enters the match with a 16-7 overall record and a 10-4 conference record for a third-place finish in the Orange Empire conference.
This women's volleyball team has all the earmarks of being one of the best that head coach Lisa Hooper has helmed in her  17-year run as head coach: a 20-3 record, 11-1 in conference, WSC South Conference Championship, Co-Conference MVP in Serena LeDuff as well has as Coach of the Year honors for Hooper.
LeDuff had an amazing year for the Cougars. Named Co-Conference MVP, All-Southern California and first-team All-Conference, the freshman outside hitter from West Ranch High School posted some remarkable individual stats, including:
- Kills per set: 3.83, second in state
- Kills: 310, second in state
- Digs per set: 4.29, fourth in state
- Digs: 346, third in state
- Service Aces per set: .49, fourth in state
- Service Aces: 40, first in state
- Points per set: 4.5, second in state
- Points: 363.5, second in state
- Total Attacks: 938, first in state
LeDuff had some company on the first team all-conference list, as teammates Jordan Carter, Cassidy Fitzpatrick and Lauren Underwood were also all named first-team all-conference.
Carter, a sophomore setter from Apple Valley High School, was key to setting up the Cougars' success. She was second in the state in both assists (715) and assists per set (9.79). Fitzpatrick, a sophomore libero from Hart High School, ranked fourth in the state in digs with 322, and third in the state in digs per Set with 4.29. Underwood, a freshman outside hitter from Canyon High School, was fourth in the state in kills (244), kills per set (3.21), and points (291.5).
As a team, the Cougars ended the season on a strong 6-0 run, with their only conference loss coming at Bakersfield on Oct. 25.
