The No. 3 ranked College of the Canyons women's volleyball team defeated visiting No. 23 Moorpark College 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-17) on Friday, in a close match played in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
The contest was played as part of the annual Western State Conference (WSC) Crossover Series featuring teams from the conference's North and South divisions.
Canyons (9-1) was led by freshman outside hitter Emily Bible, who had 12 kills and 10 digs. Sophomores Brooke Garelick and Maddy Regan each tallied nine kills.
Sophomore libero Chelsea Corn finished with 11 digs to tie Garelick for the team lead, while sophomore setter Katie Rutecki contributed with 35 assists and five kills.
As a team, the Cougars also recorded five aces and seven total blocks on the night.
The 'WSC Crossover' series continues next week when Canyons hosts Cuesta College at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23.
