No. 5 Canyons Gets a 3-0 Victory at Antelope Valley
COC freshman outside hitter Ashley Sargent finished the match with 10 kills.
The No. 5 ranked College of the Canyons women's volleyball team traveled to Antelope Valley College on Wednesday and came home with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-17) victory.
The Cougars (17-2, 7-0) held off three close sets to defeat the Marauders, with COC hitting .305 on the night to nearly doubling their opponent's kill totals.
Canyons was once again led by freshman outside hitter Emily Bible who finished the contest with a match-high 16 kills and a .433 hitting percentage. Bible also led the match with 19 digs.
COC freshman outside hitter Ashley Sargent added 10 kills of her own, and was the only other player in the match to tally double-digit kills.
Sophomore setter Katie Rutecki totaled 39 assists and added five digs to the Cougar defense. Rutecki also led the team with her two aces.
Sophomore libero Chelsea Corn had 12 digs and added an ace.
The Cougars are back at home on Friday Oct. 30, when they host West LA at 6 p.m. in the Cougar Cage.
