All-American Freshman Emily Bible Heading to Saint Mary's College

College of the Canyons freshman outside hitter and 2015 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First Team All-American Emily Bible will head north for her sophomore season after committing to continue her playing career at St. Mary's College in Moraga, California.

SMC competes in the West Coast Conference at the NCAA Division I level.

Bible, a Valencia High School graduate, will enroll at SMC for the spring 2016 semester and compete for the Gaels' beach volleyball team before playing her sophomore season in the fall.

At SMC Bible will once again be teaming up with fellow freshman and former Valencia Viking Lindsey Knudsen.

In 2015, Bible helped lead the COC women's volleyball program to 22-2 regular season record and a school-best third place finish at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship Tournament. Canyons also won its third straight WSC, South Championship.

In addition to earning All-American honors, Bible was named the WSC Player of the Year and selected as a member of the 2015 CCCAA All-State team. She ranked first on the team in kills (285), kills per set (3.56), total attacks (590), points (325.5) and points per set (4.39).

Bible, who posted a .339 hitting percentage through 24 matches, also ranked second on the team in digs (272) and digs per set (3.67) while appearing in 74 of 82 regular season sets. Her 32 aces ranked fourth on the team.

She is the first All-American honoree, and the fifth WSC Player of the Year honoree, in COC head coach Lisa Hooper's 19 years at the helm.
