No. 18 Canyons Back in Win Column, with Sweep of L.A. Pierce

No. 18 College of the Canyons hosted L.A. Pierce College for its final non-conference match, breaking the Brahmas' three-game winning streak. Set scores were 25-11, 25-14, 25-21.
Canyons (6-7) commanded a 3-0 victory, picking up its first win after a rough three-game slide that included losses to state ranked Pasadena City, Ventura and Moorpark College.
L.A. Pierce (6-3) found a little momentum in the final set, but Canyons managed to squash the energy and close out the match.
COC sophomore Brianna Botello lead her team with the highest hitting percentage at .667 and recorded a total of 11 kills and two aces in her two sets played.
The Cougars efficiently claimed points with the work of sophomore Jordan Nunez producing a team high of 25 assists and a solid 14 from sophomore Alyssa Alcaraz. Altogether the Cougars recorded 14 aces and 24 digs on the match.

Upcoming Schedule
The Cougars open up conference play on the road vs. Citrus College (4-9) on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. COC is then back at home on Friday, Sept. 30, to host No. 24 Bakersfield College with a 6 p.m. first serve.
