College of the Canyons is headed back to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship tournament for a second straight year, and the fifth time in program history, with action slated to get underway Friday, Dec. 2 at Fresno City College.
South Region No. 4 seed Canyons (20-8) is set to square off vs. North Region No. 1 seed San Joaquin Delta College (25-3) at 7 p.m. Friday in the tournament's quarterfinal round.

The Cougars finished the regular season as champions of the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division after completing a perfect 12-0 run through the conference schedule. COC finished the regular season ranked No. 14 in the state according to the final regular season California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) statewide rankings.
San Joaquin Delta College won the Big Eight Conference title, finishing a game ahead of American River College, which is also competing at the state championships. The north region's No. 1 seed, SJDC finished the regular season as the No. 2 ranked team in the state in the final regular season CCCWVCA poll. The Mustangs have appeared in a north region record 18 state championship tourneys but have yet to win a state title. Delta finished runner-up in 2017, its last appearance at the state tourney, the same year Canyons finished in third place.
