Canyons Falls to No. 23 Moorpark College

College of the Canyons hosted No. 23 Moorpark College in the Cougar Cage on Wednesday night with the Raiders walking away victorious in a three-set contest. Set scores were 25-11, 26-24, 25-23.
The Cougars (4-6) were slow to start allowing Moorpark to take the first set with ease, but that was not the case for the next two sets. Moorpark (5-5) struggled to put the match away due to the Cougars putting up a strong fight resulting in the last two sets ending at set point.
Ana Vasquez led the way for Canyons with seven kills. Kaitlyn Vazin and Kyla Dothard were next with five each.
Sutton Thompson proved essential with her nine assists and just as many digs. Vazin also worked defensively producing six digs and Vasquez had four.
Sophomore Kamia Benjamin was credited with a solo block and a block assist with fellow teammate Naomi Greer. Offensively the pair worked for three kills and one dig each.
The Cougars are on the road for their last non-conference match Friday, Sept. 22 vs. No. 5 Ventura College. First-serve is scheduled for 6 p.m
The Western State Conference (WSC), South Division schedule begins Wednesday, Sept. 27 in the vs. Glendale College.
