Canyons Cross Country Teams Both Finish Fourth at Fresno Invite
On the men's side COC sophomore Ethan Walker finished second overall among the field of 210 runners.
The College of the Canyons men's and women's cross country teams each had strong finishes at the Fresno Invitational, held Sept. 11, at Woodward Park.
The COC men's team finished fourth among the field of 16 with a score of 84 points.
American River College (38) took first, while Mt. SAC (58) and Hartnell (68) finished in second and third, respectively.
Leading the Cougars with a time of 20:50.1 was sophomore Ethan Walker, who finished second overall among the field of 210 runners.
Finishing 13th overall on the four-mile course was sophomore Joseph Rosales, with a time of 21:43.6. COC freshman Alejandro Bernal had a time of 21:43.6, which was good for an 18th place finish.
In the women's race, Canyons also finished fourth among the field of 15 schools with a score of 88.
The Cougars were led by freshman Jessica Ruiz who posted a time of 19:09.3 for an overall sixth place finish. COC sophomore Amanda De Jesus finished with a time of 19:43.5 for 16th place.
Rounding out the Cougar top three was sophomore Alexandra Whitman who placed 24th with a time of 20:15.7.
The Cougars will next compete at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Preview on Friday Sept. 18, at Mission Bay Park in San Diego.
