Cougars Compete at Fresno Invitational, Women's Team is Ninth
The Lady Cougars placed ninth in the field of 16 schools while the men's team was 13th.

FRESNO, Calif. — College of the Canyons competed in is largest meet of the season on Saturday, with both teams heading north to run in the Fresno City College Invitational at Fairview Park.
COC's women's team placed 9th in the field of 16 schools with freshman Diana Perez leading the team at a time of 20:18.7 to finish 17th in the field of 195 scoring runners.
Freshman Paris Camacho was 31st overall at a time of 21:13.5 followed by Sarah Zumudio in 58th at a pace of 22:10.2 on the 5K course.
Lauren Franco (76th/22:58.5) and Megan Carbajal (118th/26:24.8) also scored for Canyons.
Glendale (26) won the meet, followed by Hartnell (46) and third place Mt. San Antonio (109).
The Cougars' men's team placed 13th in the field of 18 schools and 135 runners.
Canyons freshmen Tarek Khezri (52nd/22:16.2) and Mathew Liebmann (60th/22:20.4) led the men's contingent.
Brannon Barber (114th/23:29.2), Mauricio Abrego (116th/23:37.6) and Edgar Pacheco (134th/24:05.7) also scored for COC.
Anthony Bautista (147th/24:29.7) and Daniel Lazo (193rd/31:40.9) also competed but did not factor into the final scores.
San Diego Mesa (37) won the men's event followed up runner-up Mt. SAC (43) and third place American River College (100).
Canyons will next get a look at its competition from across the region during the 2019 CCCAA Southern California Preview on Friday, Sept. 13, at Mission Bay Park in San Diego. First race is set to begin at 3 p.m.
