College of the Canyons freshman Ana Vasquez (women's volleyball) has been named the COC Athletic Department's Women's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period running Sept. 25-30, 2023.

Vasquez enjoyed a strong week on the court in helping the Lady Cougars post a 1-1 record to begin the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division portion of its schedule.

The freshman out of Verdugo Hills High School started the week with a stat line that included six kills, three digs, a blocked shot and a block assist in COC’s 3-1 (25-14, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21) over Glendale College in the conference opener.

Later in the week, it was Vasquez hitting .320 with a game-high 11 kills, alongside a pair of digs and four block assists, in a 3-1 (25-18, 25-18. 23-25, 25-16) loss at Bakersfield College.

Those numbers have Vasquez in a tie for third on the team with 61 kills and a team-best 1.91 kills per set.
