Bio

Eric Encinas begins his first year with the College of the Canyons Athletic Department in 2024.   

As a certified athletic trainer, Eric is responsible for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of activity related injuries and conditions that student-athletes sustain while participating in intercollegiate athletics at COC.    

Prior to joining COC, Encinas was the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL during their inaugural 2020 season. From the 2018 to 2019, Eric served as the Integrative Sports Performance – Sport Science/ Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Milwaukee Brewers (San Antonio Missions – AAA). In 2017, Encinas served as the seasonal athletic trainer for the Los Angeles Dodgers (Rancho Cucamonga Quakes – Single A). During his last semester at California State University, Long Beach, Encinas served as Training Camp Athletic Training Student Intern for the NFL's Los Angeles Rams.

Encinas is a proud alumnus of College of the Canyons having completed both his Associate of Science in Athletic Training – Kinesiology and Associate of Arts in Social Science in 2014. He received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training – Kinesiology from California State University, Long Beach in 2016. He obtained the following practitioner certifications from FMT – RockTape: IASTM, Myofascial Cupping, Kinesiology Taping, and Kinesiology Taping - Pregnancy in 2019.   

During his time at California State University, Long Beach, Encinas received the Outstanding Undergraduate Award issued by the Kinesiology Department in 2016. He also was recognized by the College of the Canyons Foundation to be among one of their Rising Stars in 2022. Eric is also a Licensed Athletic Trainer by the State of Colorado.   

Encinas currently resides in Santa Clarita with his wife and two children.
