College of the Canyons sophomore Jonah El-Farra scored 24 points and came away with 20 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Cougars fell 90-63 at the hands of Citrus College on Saturday night at Lee Smelser Court.
Canyons (8-16, 1-9) suffered its second conference loss to the Owls on a night in which the Cougars were shut out from behind the arc and saw just one player, El-Farra, reach double digits.
El-Farra's rebounding total included 11 on the offensive end. He finished 9-of-16 from the floor with 14 points coming in the opening half. That production helped keep Canyons engaged through the early going but the Cougars still trailed 47-32 at the break.
Mason Savery ended with nine points and six rebounds. Jacob Gonzalez added seven more while Joshua Barnett led the reserves with six points and a pair of steals.
Citrus (18-6, 9-1) moved its win streak to three games aided by a game-high 25 points from JJ Mitchell. Tyrel Creger added 24 points to help keep the Cougars at bay.
With four games remaining on the schedule Canyons next travels to face Antelope Valley College at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14.
