Canyons Takes WSC Tourney No. 6 By Single Stroke
COC maintains hold on conference's top spot as all five golfers finish within the tourney's top-15.
One stroke was the difference between the College of the Canyons men's golf team and conference rival Santa Barbara City College, as the Cougars squeaked out a narrow win at Western State Conference (WSC) Tourney No. 6 behind a strong performance from sophomore Eric Kim.
Where the first place Cougars excelled was consistency, as COC teammates Noah Bernstein (73) and Sam Sloman (74) joined Kim among the tournament's top 10 finishers.
Clayton Chatterley and Noa Yap finished in the top 15 with scores of 75 and 76, respectively.
With the victory, COC maintained its position atop the WSC standings with a total team score of 368.
Heading into Monday's contest, SBCC loomed close behind COC in the WSC standings — even after the Cougars' runaway win at WSC Tourney No. 5 in Antelope Valley.
After the low scoring showdown in Santa Maria, the standings remain largely unchanged. SBCC now trails the Cougars by five points, with Ventura College a distant third place.
The Cougars will next compete in WSC Tourney No. 7 on Monday April 6, at San Dimas Canyon Golf Course.
