The College of the Canyons men's golf program won the 2019 CCCAA State Championship, CCCAA Southern California Regional Championship and an unprecedented 10th straight Western State Conference (WSC) title to mark an historic season for the Cougars. Canyons won the state title by an impressive 18 strokes at the Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa, topping runner-up Santa Barbara City College along with the tourney’s eight-team field. Freshman Nobuhiko Wakaari won the individual state title after finishing two-under par for the tourney to cap a season in which he was named the WSC Player of the Year before finishing fourth at the Southern California regional tourney. Wakaari was joined by Jules Lavigne and Anguerrand Voisin on the All-State team. The state championship is the program’s ninth overall (1993, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019), all coming under head coach Gary Peterson.
