First Place Cougars Finish Third at WSC Tourney No. 7
Canyons remains stop the Western State Conference standings.
While Monday's Western State Conference (WSC) Tourney No. 7 at San Dimas Canyon Golf Course was a slight misstep, the College of the Canyons men's golf team remains atop the conference standings after finishing third behind conference rivals Santa Barbara City College and host Citrus College.
COC was led once again by the reliable Eric Kim, who finished with a 74, to tie him with teammate Matt Murray for team-best.
For the second week in a row, SBCC sported the day's top golfer, with Jonny Hogan, Manny Manzone and Joakim Flinck all tallying scores of 71 to finish top three in the standings.
As a result, SBCC wont he tourney with a team score of 362. Citrus carded a 376, while Canyons finished at 377.
COC sophomore Noa Yap finished with a 75, while teammates Noah Bernstein and Sam Sloman each tallied cards of 77 for the Cougars.
The 14-stroke win brings SBCC to within three points of COC heading into the season's waning stages.
Monday's third place finish is COC's lowest placement this season, and breaks a two-match winning streak in which the Cougars distanced themselves from the rest of the WSC field.
