Cougars Roar Again With Third Straight Even-Par Round

SAN DIMAS — College of the Canyons recorded an even-par team score of 360 for the third time in as many weeks, extending its program record while winning another Western State Conference (WSC) tournament at San Dimas Country Club on Monday.

The Cougars (93-6) have now won five straight conference events dating back to March 25, and continue to lead the WSC.  COC's round of 360 at last week's tournament at Alisal Ranch in Solvang represented the first time a Cougar squad and finished at even par in back-to-back weeks.

Monday's even-par score bested runner-up Santa Barbara City College (371) and event host Citrus College (375) in third place. Ventura (377) and Bakersfield College rounded out the top-five spots of the eight-team field. 

COC freshman Yannes Yngve was the low man for Canyons with his round of 68, which tied him for medalist honors with Blaize Rader of Bakersfield College.

Cougars Hugo Boyer and Owen Crockett both finished the day one-under-par at 71 to share fifth-place. Ethan Posthumus was two-over at 74 to slot into a tie for eighth place. 

Paul Grimonpon and Robert Scribner recorded identical rounds of 76, with Scribner's score scratched from the final five-man tally. 

Up next, Canyons will serve as host while playing another WSC event on Wednesday, April 17 at Rancho Vista Golf Course in Palmdale
