Cougars finish the season with a record of 30-13-1 after advancing to Super Regional tourney for second straight year.

COC freshman Danielle Chatman leads the team with a .477 batting average to also rank fourth in the conference, while Ludy is batting .467 to rank second on the team and fifth in the WSC.

The Cougars will next face No. 1 Cypress College (42-0, 21-0) at 1 p.m. Friday, May 12.

The Cougars have now advanced to the postseason in six straight seasons under COC head coach John Wissmath.

COC sophomore Azmarheen Anderson finished the first game 3-for-3 with a run and three RBIs.

The Cougars (20-5-1, 7-1) won by scores of 19-3 and 11-2, as sophomore Micayla Aguilar recorded nine RBIs on the day.

Canyons (13-2-1, 3-1) is ranked No. 10 in the state and No. 6 in Southern California according to the most recent statewide coaches poll.

The loss snapped COC’s unbeaten streak at eight games. The Cougars had not lost since an 8-7 home defeat at the hands of Southwestern College back on Feb. 22.

The Cougars required the minimum five innings in both victories, winning the first game 12-0 and following up with an 11-3 victory.

COC freshman Sienna Vannoy finished a combined 4-for-4 with six RBIs and three runs scored in the two games.

The Cougars (7-2-1) pounced all over SCC (10-3) in the opener, running away with a 12-1 victory, but ended the second game tied 11-11 after contest was called due to darkness.

Canyons (5-2) was forced to play from behind for the second time in as many games, with the Jaguars scratching out a 3-0 first inning lead.

Canyons (5-1) had won five straight games out of the gate but was forced to play from behind all day vs. the Vaqueros.

COC third baseman Alexis Avila made her mark in Game 1 with six RBIs on a 3-for-3 batting performance. The freshman finished just a single short of hitting for the cycle.
