SAN DIEGO – The College of the Canyons track & field teams combined to log 22 personal records while sophomore Sam Regez ran to victory in the 1500m at the Arnie Robinson Invitational hosted by San Diego Mesa College on March 29.

Regez was the lone event winner for the Cougars, running to a time of 4:02.13 to take the top spot in a 1500m field that included two-year, four-year and unattached student-athletes.

Freshman Nathaniel Wilkinson almost accomplished that same feat in the 3,000m steeplechase event, instead settling for runner-up status at a time of 9:59.01.

In the 4x100 relay it was the combination of Da'Marrie Smith, Andre Bray, JT Saenz and Lyndon Ravare teaming for a time of 42.62 to finish fourth among the nine-team field.

Saenz continued his strong season, this time finishing sixth in the triple jump (6.53m/21' 5.25"), eighth in the long jump (6.53m/21' 5.25") and 20th in the 400m (52.03).

Ravare ran a time of 11.11 in the 100m to take ninth place, while Bray recorded a mark of 12.41m/39' 10" in the triple jump, also good for ninth place.

Jerome Hughes in the 400m (8th/50.73) and Travis Royal in the javelin (9th/43.79m/143' 8") represented the other two top-10 finishes for the men's team.

On the women's side it was Zeniah Ellsworth running to a pair of top-10 finishes. Ellsworth finished fourth in the 400m with a season-best time of 59.36. The sophomore also clocked a time of 25.78 to place ninth in the 200m.

Kaiya Cortinas also ran well, finishing sixth in the 800m (2:32.76) and seventh in the 1500m (5:14.74).
