Canyons Cruises to Sixth Straight Conference Win, Four Finish Under Par

PALMDALE — College of the Canyons posted its sixth straight conference victory, and second of the week, with an impressive outing that saw all six players finish in the top-nine, with a combined team score of seven-under-par at Rancho Vista Golf Course on Wednesday.

Canyons (100-6) easily won the event ahead with a five-player score of 353. Citrus College (372) finished runner-up to the host Cougars with Glendale College (374) in third place.

On Monday, the Cougars extended their program record with a third straight team score of even par. Wednesday's round bested that score with four individual players shooting under par. 

Freshman Ethan Posthumus took home medalist honors with his three-under-par score of 69 which led all players. 

Sophomore Paul Grimonpon finished a stroke behind in second place at 70. Meanwhile, it was Owen Crockett and An-Chieh Tsai sharing fifth place with rounds of 71. 

Hugo Boyer finished even at 72 to claim eighth place and represent COC's final scoring player. Hannes Yngve, who was the medalist at Monday's event, shot a one-over score of 73 to tie for ninth place, but had his score dropped from the Cougars' team tally.

Canyons will next play at Rio Bravo Country Club on Monday, April 22, at the Western State Conference (WSC) event hosted by Bakersfield College.
